LM76 and our sister company J.C. Tarbell reside
in
this modern 50,000 square foot facility in East
Longmeadow, Massachusetts. LM76 and Tarbell will
become LM-Tarbell, Inc. as of June 1 1999. This union
makes LM-Tarbell one of the premier plane bearing
design
and manufacturing
companies in the United States.

J.C. Tarbell was founded in 1938 when
it was
awarded the exclusive regional distributorship for
a new oil impregnated bronze bushing -
manufactured by Chrysler. Tarbell remains one
of the nation's leading suppliers of plane
bearing
materials: Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushings,
Rulon, P/M,
Polymer, Polyamide and numerous
exotic and
non-metallic plane bearings.

In the 70's, Tarbell's General Manager, Warren
Hamilton, was asked by one of his customers
to help solve problems he was
experiencing with
traditional ball bushings - they were scoring the
shaft and failing.
Warren reviewed the application
and found that a sleeve-type bearing would perform
better
than a rolling element bushing. Shortly thereafter,
he founded LM76 and
his ceramic coated bearing
became the original off-the-shelf, drop-in replacement
alternative for all ball bushing products.
