LM76 - Problem Solved!

LM76 was contacted by a manufacturer of pizza
dough press system who needed a linear bearing with a very tight running clearance. The issue with PTFE Composite bearings and Linear Ball Bearings was
the running clearance ( PTFE Composite ) or, in the case of linear ball bearings, compliance built into their self-alignment mechanisms. By the time the plunger was at full travel, the 18" long, 2 inch shaft exhibited so much centerline movement that the crust was uneven - thinner on one side than the other.

LM76 engineered a bearing solution that employed
a special pillow block and a sintered bronze bearing. The bronze material is impregnated with a special
wax based lubricant which does not migrate. We calculated the press-fit, shaft tolerance ( +.000/-.0002 ) and ended-up with an overall running clearance
( overall distance between shaft & bearing ) of .0005"
or .0002.5" per side. To further tighten the running clearance we roller burnished the bearing ID. When
you take the shaft out it pops!

Other companies walked-away from the application because their standard products could not do the job. Not LM76! We are not limited to catalog offerings. We think it through and find a solution. LM76 is the company that EXCEEDS the challenge.
